BOSTON, Mass., May 14, 2026 — Byongen Therapeutics (“Byongen”), a biotechnology company specializing in next-generation AAV vector engineering, today presented non-human primate (NHP) validation data for its MyoCAP® muscle-targeting capsid series at the 29th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT). The findings were shared in an Oral Presentation (#312) and four technical poster sessions.
Key Performance & Mechanism
• Superior Targeting: MyoCAP® variants achieved a 10-fold increase in muscle transduction and a 30-fold improvement in the muscle-to-liver ratio compared to AAV9 in NHP models.
• Molecular Logic: This specificity is driven by novel muscle-targeting PRG motifs coupled with proprietary "H-Switch" logic, which utilizes precisely positioned Histidine (H) residues to mitigate hepatic sequestration.
• Systemic Efficacy: Following single IV injections, MyoCAP® demonstrated robust expression across skeletal and cardiac muscles while significantly reducing liver uptake.
Leadership Perspective
"The results presented today provide a compelling mechanistic basis for decoupling muscle potency from liver tropism," said Dr. Gang Wang, Founder and CEO of Byongen. "By integrating the PRG engine with our H-Switch escape logic, we are establishing a new foundation for safer, lower-dose systemic gene therapies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and other devastating neuromuscular diseases."
DynEvoLib® Discovery Platform
Byongen’s presentations also showcased its DynEvoLib® (Dynamic Evolution Library) engine. This end-to-end platform integrates rational design with high-throughput NHP-based evolution, enabling the rapid discovery and multidimensional validation of next-generation AAV vectors.
